JINWOL ARCHIVE

i bought a box of VHS tapes at an estate clearance. the label says "jinwol environmental observatory, 1994–1995." the custody list inside says twelve tapes. the box holds eight.

i looked up jinwol city. it has no postal code. it is not on the administrative register. no newspaper, no map, no phone book — nothing. but the paperwork in this box is the record of a real, functioning institution, down to the form numbers, the stamps, the approval lines. someone spent five years observing a city that does not exist.

i'm restoring what they left, one piece at a time. the video tapes go to the tape depository; the papers go here. where the records are damaged, i have left them damaged.
